Hammond, LA -- Jostens, the leading producer of yearbooks and student-created content, today announced that the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School yearbook program has been named a 2013 Jostens National Yearbook Program of Excellence. The National Yearbook Program of Excellence designation recognizes dynamic school yearbook programs. The program recognizes yearbook staffs and advisers who create engaging yearbooks for their school communities.

The 2013 STA yearbook, Veritas, was dedicated in a surprise ceremony on Monday to Technology Director, Mr. Joshua Wittie. Mr. Wittie is responsible for the tremendously successful iPad 1:1 program that was implemented at STA in the 2012-13 school year.

Freshman Nancy Donnes, daughter of John and Genna Donnes of Hammond, wears the Teen Miss Dance of America crown after winning the Solo Title Scholarship Competition at the 129th annual convention of Dance Masters of America. Nancy has studied at Main Street Dance for twelve years.

Sophomore Shannon Garrety has written and published her first novel, and will autograph copies at Bayou Booksellers on August 31 from 10 a.m. until noon.

The STA Commons got a healthy "face-lift" this summer thanks to a generous donation from the Student Councils of 2012-13 and 2013-14. Solar shades were installed on all windows in the Commons.

STA Cheerleaders and Starlettes are excited to announce a new Spirit Shop offered through Varsity, the world-leader in cheer & dance. All purchases will go toward helping both teams with expenses for Nationals, competitions, and team apparel.

Congratulations to the Starlettes for their recent accomplishments at Universal Dance Association’s Convention Dance Camp. The team placed 2nd for their Home Routine, and also received a Superior Trophy, earning them an automatic bid for UDA’s National Dance Team Championship in Orlando in February.
