In celebration of the Global Week of Student Prayer (September 21-27), STA students joined students across the world in gathering at their flagpole and uniting in prayer for their school, friends, families, churches, and communities. "See You at the Pole" is a day committed to global unity in Christ and prayer for youth.

Ashlyn Bravata would have been an STA freshman this year, however she passed away very unexpectedly last year from an undiagnosed heart condition. Sept. 29th would have been Ashlyn's 14th birthday. Most of us did not know Ashlyn, but she was a very important person to many in our freshman class. The Class of 2018 is sponsoring a $2 spirit dress day on Monday, September 29th in honor of Ashlyn's birthday. Please join them in wearing a PINK SHIRT, JEANS, AND CLOSED TOE SHOES. Additional donations are welcomed. The proceeds will be donated to the "Ashlyn Bravata Memorial Fund".

STA Principal José Becerra recognizes senior Abigail von Almen for her composite score of 31 on the ACT College Placement Test. The Veritas ACT 30+ Award at STA is given to all students who receive a composite score of 30 or above on the ACT. Abigail is the daughter of Bivin von Almen of Ponchatoula.

The Falcon Alumni Association has taken the Ice Water Challenge and put their own spin on it. They have challenged the student body to raise $2000, which they will match, to fund equipment for the new science labs, as well as a student scholarship. Father Mark Beard and his amazing team of volunteers has recently completed the remodeling of the STA Chapel, with all-new flooring, pews, statues, Stations of the Cross, drapery, and lighting. Also, the Chapel is home to a new, beautiful Tabernacle, donated by the Class of 2014 as their senior gift. Thank you to Father Mark for his enthusiasm, vision, and effort in making the Chapel a beautiful worship space.

Several students were honored after Mass today for going above and beyond the required service hours during the 2013-14 school year. Special shout out to Catherine McRae for earning more than 100 hours and to Elizabeth Gobert for earning more than 200 hours of service to our community.

When the yearbook editorial staff and several members of the Class of 2014 returned to St. Thomas Aquinas on Orientation Day to dedicate and distribute the 2014 yearbook, they revealed that modern technology has provided the classic yearbook with a twist.

99 ninth-graders gathered at STA for their first event as the "Class of 2018" on Tuesday evening. While their parents attended an informational assembly with administrators, the new freshman class enjoyed ice-breakers and ice cream sundaes in the Theatre with the Advancement team and the STA Student Ambassadors.
