Hutch Gonzales to Lead Falcon Football Team

St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School has selected Covington native Hutch Gonzales as head coach for the Falcon football team. Gonzales is a familiar face in Hammond as he played wide receiver for Coach Hal Mumme’s first Southeastern Louisiana University Lions team after the return of football.

While at Southeastern, Gonzales was an All-Conference Wide Receiver. He signed professional contracts to play wide receiver for the CFL Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2006 and for the AFL New Orleans VooDoo in 2011. He has been offensive coordinator for both Lakeshore High School and Fontainebleau High School.

“I could not be more excited to have the opportunity to join the STA family and coach the young men of their football program,” said Gonzales. “My family and I are excited to be back in the Hammond area as both my wife and I attended Southeastern. I am very familiar with the many successes that this program has had through the years and can’t wait to help them get back to the top of their game. This is a great football community and there is nowhere else I’d rather be.”

Gonzales and his wife Ashley have two children: Samantha, age seven, and Max, age four.
