Volleyball Donates "Pink Out" Proceeds to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center

STA Principal Jose Becerra and Volleyball Coach Paula Boudreaux recently presented donations to Randy Haddad, Director of Development and Community Relations with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. The volleyball team raised more than $2300 through fundraisers for their annual "Pink-Out" festivities.

"Pink Out Day" is an annual event for the volleyball team to raise awareness and funds during Breast Cancer Awareness month, and culminates in the annual Pink Out game against Ponchatoula High School.

This year's events included bake sales, decal sales, and T-shirt sales. The annual student volleyball game at the end of the day ended with the seniors victorious over the undergraduates, but the Class of 2014 was defeated 36-18 by the faculty team.

The STA Lady Falcons volleyball team defeated PHS 3-2 in a five-game series.  Ponchatoula High School's team donated $400 toward the Pink Out events, making the grand total of the donation more than $2700.
