Welcome From the Counseling Department

The counselors at St. Thomas Aquinas High School are always available for counseling and consultations. A student is welcome to come by the counseling office anytime or schedule a meeting with a counselor for any reason, including career counseling, college and scholarship consultation, financial aid questions, testing information and personal issues. Except in cases of imminent personal danger, the counselors maintain strict confidentiality. Parents may also contact a school counselor at 985-542-7662 or at the appropriate email address.

Vision Statement

The shared vision of Saint Thomas Aquinas High School Counseling Department promotes the excellence in students through collaboration with administration, teachers, parents, & the community in order to guide students toward academic success, expand personal responsibility, & explore one’s self-identity to reach full potential in the scholastic journey. We will work towards eliminating barriers that have traditionally impeded the growth & performance of all students by implementing a comprehensive counseling approach. The Saint Thomas Aquinas Counseling Department is an integral & transformative program that serves all students to optimize students' academic, personal/social & career development & is staffed by active, involved school counselors that work closely with parents, teachers, administrators & community members.

Mrs.  Mary Guin

Mrs. Guin (mary.guin@stafalcons.org) is our counselor for all grades.  She is responsible for academic planning, college and career planning, as well as caring for students personal and social needs.

Students may see Mrs. Guin through teacher or parent referral but may also stop by any time or email to set up an appointment.

Mrs. Shannon Jordan

Mrs. Jordan is our Study Skills teacher who is responsible for any special needs, accommodations, 504 Plans, IEP’s, & accommodations from private evaluations.

Mrs. Jordan also coordinates standardized testing for freshmen, sophomore, juniors, and special testing accommodations for ACT/SAT. Mrs. Jordan also teaches Speech I.
