Mr. Paul Levy Selected as Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Mr. Paul Levy, chosen by the Faculty and Staff as the Teacher of the Year 2016 at St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School.  Mr. Levy has been at STA since January of 2015 as the Biology, Chemistry, and Robotics teacher. He is the moderator of the Robotics Club and led the team to the State Championship in 2016. He is also the coach for the Boy’s Tennis Team and the recipient of the Faculty Neighbor’s Way Award in 2016.  He is a graduate of De La Salle High School and Our Lady of Holy Cross College with a BS in Biology. He earned his teaching certificate at SLU in December.


Aaron Mixon Joins the ACT 30+ Club

STA Principal José Becerra recognizes junior Aaron Mixon for his composite score of 32 on the ACT College Placement Test.  The Veritas ACT 30+ Award at STA is given to all students who receive a composite score of 30 or above on the ACT.  Aaron is the son of Kevin and Gina Mixon of Springfield.

Julia Rossano Joins the ACT 30+ Club

STA Principal José Becerra recognizes junior Julia Rossano for her composite score of 30 on the ACT College Placement Test.  The Veritas ACT 30+ Award at STA is given to all students who receive a composite score of 30 or above on the ACT.  Julia is the daughter of Dr. Matt and Rhonda Rossano of Independence.

STA Students Advance at District Literary Rally

Several STA students excelled at the District Literary Rally held last weekend at Southeastern Louisiana University and will advance to the State Literary Rally in April. They are Alexis Theriot, 2nd, Biology II; Madison Perez, 2nd, Fine Arts Survey; Gretta Rukaber, 2nd, Spanish I; Logan Thompson, 3rd, Physics; Jaylen Jackson, 3rd, Health; and Julia Rossano, 3rd, English III. Benjamin Drummond won the Spelling competition, with Nick Falcon placing 3rd and Rachael White placed 3rd in Art. Those categories do not compete on the State Level. Drummond and White also both received a Southeastern Scholarship.

Daniel Fox Awarded Scholarship from Hibernians

Congratulations to junior Daniel Fox, recipient of a $500 scholarship from the Ancient Order of Hibernians, West Florida Parishes Division. Students in grades 9-12 who are practicing Catholics were eligible to compete for the scholarship. Winners were chosen by the AOH. Daniel completed the application process, as well as a 500-word essay on "What the Corporal Works of Mercy Mean to Me." STA Graduate Heads to NASA

2008 STA graduate Daniel Huggett will tell you that dreams really can come true. Huggett and his wife Danielle Ferrara Huggett, also a 2008 graduate, are moving to Florida for his dream job with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
