Alumnus Joseph Petz Returns to STA as Soccer Coach

Joseph Petz, a 2012 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School, has been hired as the 2017-18 boys’ soccer coach.  Petz, a Southeastern Louisiana University student, served as a head coach for the Covington Youth Soccer Association for two years. Most recently, he coached the Hammond High Tornados to three straight playoff appearances - their first playoff appearances in 20 years. He was named Coach of the Year In 2015.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to return to my alma mater to coach such a great team,” said Petz. “I look forward to building upon the long history of success that the boys’ soccer team has enjoyed in the past.”

STA Athletic Director Barrett Morgan said, “We are really excited to have Joseph Petz to lead our Falcons. He has a lot of history with the St. Thomas Aquinas soccer program. He understands what it takes. This program means a lot to him and his hunger will get us back to the top.”
