Volleyball Team Donates to Breast Cancer Awareness with "Pink Out" Activities

STA's Volleyball Team sponsored their annual "Pink Out" activities in October to promote breast cancer awareness. Along with the traditional "Pink Out Dress Up Day" and the Teacher-Student Volleyball game, the team sold baked goods and awareness ribbons. Senior Butch Bartels Selected as WWL-TV A+ Athlete

Congratulations to senior Butch Bartels for being chosen as a WWL-TV A+ Athlete for his academic achievements and successes in Soccer, Cross Country, Swimming, and Tennis.  WWL-TV in New Orleans recognizes outstanding high school student athletes based on these criteria:  scholastic achievement, athletic ability, and overall community and school involvement.

Another ACT 30+ Club Member!

STA Principal José Becerra recognizes senior Haiting “Rosemary” Shui for her composite score of 31 on the ACT College Placement Test. The Veritas ACT 30+ Award at STA is given to all students who receive a composite score of 30 or above on the ACT.  Rosemary is an exchange student from China, living locally with James and Brenda Parent of Amite. She is spending her senior year at STA, saying this was the best place for her to be in order to be prepared for the university level in the United States.

STA Students Earn a Half-Day with Donation to Tangi Food Pantry

Each Thanksgiving the students of St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School are challenged by the STA Administration to bring in non-perishable food items to be donated to the Tangi Food Pantry. The goal this year was 1, 395 items. As always, if the students meet the goal, they are rewarded with a ½ day the Friday before Thanksgiving holidays begin.  Once again, the students and faculty responded and donated more than 2,200 non-perishable food items.

Campus Ministry students assist with Operation Christmas Child

The students of STA's Campus Ministry organizations recently created more than 100 fishing kits to donate to the Hammond Kiwanis Club as part of their “Operation Christmas Child” program.  Operation Christmas Child began in 1993 as part of Samaritan’s Purse International Relief program to deliver shoe boxes to children in impoverished nations. 

From Falcons to a Lion and a Cowgirl

Seniors Regan Bolton and Courtney Dawsey joined together for signing day as the pair each inked their names to play basketball at the next level. Bolton, a 5'8' shooting guard, will be headed to join former STA Lady Falcon standout Amber Donnes at McNeese State University, while Dawsey, a 5'5" guard, is headed to Southeastern Louisiana University to join the Lady Lions.
